Numb Mixtape - Kirsty P
Numb Mixtape: Kirsty P
Look for humble in a thesaurus and you’ll find associated words like modest, self-effacing and unpretentious but in my opinion you should also find Kirsty Pemberton.
Worker, mother (to her biggest fan) and selector (she’s not a DJ – her words) Kirsty Pemberton is deservedly so gathering an army of devoted followers and fans. Her love of music knows no bounds and if you’ve ever listened to any of her mixes you’ll agree that they are both expansive and educational in their track selection.
She has a raft of guest mixes on esteemed blogs and shows such as Lodown, Invisible Cities, Mr Orrell’s cult Cosmic Capers Radio Show, Balearic Social and Acid Pony Club. So being the shy retiring chap I am I plucked up the courage to ask Kirsty if she’d like contribute to Numb Magazines Mixtape Page….. Boy did she deliver.
I don’t want to spoil the ride but Kirsty’s included some wonderful tracks from Daniel Wainwright, La Decadanse, Decius, Mushrooms Project and many more which will keep you hooked throughout. Mixcloud will have the complete tracklist but for the next 2 hours just plug in, press play and enjoy.
You can catch Kirsty playing at Andrew Thompsons Vanishing Point Party on 31st October https://www.facebook.com/events/444139995789438/ at The Star by Hackney Downs with Mr Marc Hasler and Nein Records / Alfresco resident Jonah Considine.
She’ll then be returning for their Christmas party on the 11th December.
Personally I think if Kirsty keeps on knocking mixes out like this it won’t be long before you see her gracing the decks at many more parties… but remember this “I’m no working DJ or anything, I just love playing records to whoever wants to listen” well listen in people and learn.
